Local Towns

The Stewartry has numerous towns and villages to explore during your stay each with its own individual charm.

Kirkcudbright - 8.5 miles away is well known in art circles for its historical connections with the 'Glasgow Boys' and Jessie M King . The town hosts an annual Arts and Crafts Trail where artists, craft makers and businesses throw open their doors and invite you to step inside their creative places; gardens, workshops and homes. 150 exhibitors take part in this artistic explosion, at around 100 venues within Kirkcudbright itself.

Castle Douglas – Scotlands Food town 10 miles away with over 50 traditional local independent shops. 3 butchers, Delis, grocers, fishmongers, independent fashion and accessory shops, books, chocolate producers, a small family brewery, cafes, toys, gifts, children's wear, galleries, art, antiques and furniture. Shopping is a real treat in Castle Douglas Food Town; like taking a step back in time but for all the best reasons.
